Atlantic Challenge

Wright International Ltd believes that no matter what your dream or lifetime ambition is, you should always do your best to achieve that goal. The Atlantic Challenge 2008 was formed for just that purpose, to let the inner child in us control our thoughts and emotions for once instead of living in the busy rat race of city life.

Atlantic Challenge

We are offering you the chance to join in a race from Antigua to the Azores then on to the UK. When we say race, it’s more of a friendly rivalry between the 4 yachts making the voyage.

Each of these yachts offer fully qualified and experiences skippers and first mate that take full responsibility for all decisions onboard. Your challenge is to perform in a team environment as you sail the 3500 nautical miles from start to finish.

Atlantic Challenge

The yachts that you will be racing are arguably the best in the world for this adventure. You will be sailing onboard a Farr 65 sailing yacht which is virtually a more civil version of the Whitbread 60 that performed in various round the world challenges.  Bruce Farr designs are award winning as they have proven time after time to be one of the safest, fastest blue water cruisers in the world.

Atlantic Challenge

Each yacht can accommodate 12 guests plus 2 crew giving a maximum of 50 places for this race. These places are selling fast and will continue to do so as we believe this is the only opportunity for such an adventure. We also appreciate that not everyone can afford either the time or money involved to sail the 3500 nautical miles and therefore you can sail from Antigua – Azores or from Azores to UK. You do not have to do the complete trip. Just remember though, no-one ever talks about winning the half marathon…..the real glory takes time, effort and dedication.

Atlantic Challenge

In order to complete the passage, you would be best to allocate 4 weeks for this trip. This will include a stopover in Horta giving you a chance to relax and explore the island. As crew, you will be very much involved in all aspects of sailing and running the yacht with our dedicated crew. You can feel free to stay onboard during our stopover at Horta, pitching in as much as you like or you have the freedom to check into a hotel and relax on dry land. The thought of a nice soft bed and hot bath might become too hard to resist!!
