SPECIAL SURVEY – Every Commercial Vessel be it Cargo or Passenger has to have a Special Survey carried out to allow it to sail. There are many different Classification Societies around the world but the general rule is to conform with I.A.C.S – The International Association of Classification Societies. Many Ports in the world will now not let a vessel dock unless it has current I.A.C.S Classification. Wright International Ltd is here to assist you in getting your vessel through its Special Survey and back out on the water. Wright International Ltd now has small workboats that require coding up to the 54,500 DWT Cargo Carrier that also requires to be coded. That is why we operate a network of Professional companies specifically set up to work with Wright International Ltd and your company to make this as painless an exercise as possible. Forward planning is the key to success as so many dry docks have a long waiting list and unless your vessel is booked into the Dry Dock it will not get it Special Survey and you will lose time and money.

ANNUAL SURVEY – Not as onerous as the Special Survey never the less the Annual Survey has to be planned and executed to a set plan of when the ship is to be made available and the I.A.C.S. approved surveyor is available. Programmed Certification will take of the vessel mechanically, certification and safety so that the vessel is kept as sea worthy as possible at all times. Working with Wright International Ltd and their partners throughout the world will ensure this concept is fully workable and reported to you in advance for your approval.

DRY DOCK – There are many reasons why a vessel has to be dry docked and that endless list requires careful planning. Not least because of the ever diminishing number of Dry Docks being available and the huge increase of Marine Vessels requiring these services. The ship may just require Anti foul or a repair to the propeller or it may be in for its renewal of it Certification. Whatever the reason it should be planned and organised so that the vessel is where it is supposed to be without losing the owner time and money.

CREW MANAGEMENT – Probably the most time consuming sector of running any vessel is the Crew Management. Making sure holidays are covered or long term sick leave is just part of the role. It is also the ongoing training programme to ensure YOUR crews are kept up to date with modern technology and changes to their “Tickets”. Sometimes companies buy vessels from us and do not wish to stop their operations to deliver the new vessels they are buying and that is where the Professional companies working with Wright International Ltd steps in and provides “Delivery Crews” whether it is a small workboat or a very large Cargo Vessel. CREW TRANSFERS – Many of today’s vessel do not come into Ports as that costs in time and money for docking. That is where Wright International Ltd can assist you by organising the transfer of your new crew and bringing ashore the replacements for the ongoing journey. Again it is all down to timing and professional organisation to ensure the correct number of crew and the correct number of “tickets” are on board for the safe passage of the vessel.  Wright International Ltd also has the Crew Boats with large aft decks to carry replacement food out to your ship and to bring ashore the waste from the ship to comply with current legislation.

SHIP MAINTENANCE - Wright International Ltd recognises the need for programmed maintenance and the huge impact this can have on the owners and the loss of earnings if it is not programmed in advance. Special Surveys demand comprehensive maintenance, annual surveys not so much but still have to have the vessel “ship shape”. Ship Maintenance always has the engine as the only part being maintained but this could not be further from the truth. Safety equipment has to be serviced and replacements organised when the Liferafts etc are away being serviced. Modern electronics require constant maintenance to ensure they are operating properly. Even the Galley has to be serviced to ensure the gas pipes have no leaks. Ship Maintenance is a necessary evil and if you do not service your car and it breaks down you call for help. If your ship breaks down you lose time, money and sometimes lives.

BUNKERAGE – The operating costs of mechanical equipment has escalated out of all proportion due to increases in fuel costs.
