Engines

This vessel was re-engined (NEW) in 1998 with the ever reliable 6 cylinder Cummins KTA 19 M2 engine with a 600 horsepower output. The engine turbo charged with inlet air ducted direct to blower. The gearbox is a Rentjes type AF 360 ratio 4.9:1 and is shaft driven through her single propeller and she is extremely economic to run as a result. This engine has been maintained to the same exacting standards set throughout the vessel and has very low hours on it.

She is fitted with three auxiliary engines and they are all in good working order. One of the most enduring engines is the Lister for use as auxiliary power units. This vessel has TWO of them fitted and they are in very good condition.
1 x Lister 3 cylinder aircooled alternator rated 27Kva
1 x Lister 2 cylinder aircooled alternator rated 17,5Kva (newly reconditioned)
1 x Fimag 4 cylinder diesel engine rated about 30Kva

2 x diaphram type power bilge pumps
2 x fire/washdeck pumps

Accomodation

Constructed in Belgium for Germanica Lloyds coastal waterways Barge, this vessel is a credit to her owner throughout. Constructed for use trading between Norway and Denmark, this ship has solid scantlings and her plating is without any ripples. Her two cavernous holds are covered with lift off hatches and the access to them is from immaculate gunnels. If you look at the travelling crane you will see the rails are straight and well maintained.

One look at the whole of this ship and you would honestly believe she was made last year, she is so well maintained.

When you see the specification of the interior of this vessel it is like reading from a luxury apartment in an Estate Agents window. The luxury seating the accommodation and the bathroom including a full size bath, makes you wonder if the crew were living in an hotel or working on the river.

2 x large double cabins with integral cupboards and wardrobes.
1 x single cabin presently used by the owner as her office.

Galley – when you step into this galley you would be forgiven for mistaken this as a modern kitchen from a luxury flat. All the domestic appliances are already there including the refrigerator, sink, dish washing machine, cooker etc.

Saloon – When we were asked to consider placing this fully operational cargo ship on the market as a liveaboard we were naturally rather sceptical. It is impossible to convey the surprise we got when did actually step on board. The first thing you see is the bright immaculately clean gunnels, leading to the aft section of the boat housing the accommodation. We were then asked to remove our shoes and step down into this area. What greeted us was an accommodation worthy of any penthouse flat. Bright, modern, clean, spacious and most importantly luxurious. The saloon seating is so comfortable that you do not want to get up. When you open the fully fitted cupboards and find a television and video secluded you start to get the impression this is no ordinary vessel.

Bathroom – including bath, shower, wash hand basin with pull out shower taps for washing your hair and all contained in a bright modern tiled room.

Tumble dryer and washing machine installed in the utility room.

Forward: a 2 berth cabin, galley, saloon, toilet/shower for the crew to enjoy their own privacy and full liveaboard status.

Midships there is a generator room with its own store and paint store and workbench etc..

When you step onto the bridge of this vessel the first impression is light and unbelievable visibility all round. With full 360 degree vision this makes steering her in canals and rivers so much easier. There is a large comfortable bench/berth, a large sliding sunroof, a chart table and chart drawers and an instrument bank.

All the instruments are laid out in order and installed with true professional appreciation of what each one does. The skippers helm position has a secure “Captains Seat” and is ergonomically positioned so that the skipper has to leave this position as little as possible. Have a look at the instrument bank and you will see this vessel is designed for coastal work as well as river work.

Safety Equipment

One of the first concerns and probably the most important concern when it comes to liveaboards is safety. This vessel would make an ideal vessel for family to enjoy in complete safety. The gunnels are wide and without any obstructions. The handrail is made of stainless steel rigging tensioned to be used as a handrail. The biggest safety feature being that when you step down into the accommodation it is all self contained. You can access all the main areas such as cabins, heads, utility room, bathroom, saloon and the bridge without stepping back outside.

As this vessel is fully operational she already has all the nautical safety equipment on board to comply with her trading areas, such as liferafts, flares, VHF and medical kits.
