Engines

This ship is powered by twin EMD 16-567BC diesel engines giving a total output of 3280hp. These engines are coupled to 2.98:1 ratio Western gearboxes which are connected to 4 bladed 90 x 90 inch propellers within kort nozzles. This gives the ship excellent power for passage making through heavy seas.

This ship is also fitted with a Brunvoll SPT-AP-400 bow thruster giving 4.5t of thrust at 400hp. This is powered by a GM 12V71 engine making servicing, spares and repairs very much accessible almost anywhere in the world.

This ship can carry the following:-

• 355.51t of diesel
• 148.76t of ballast water
• 204.96t of fresh water
• 18.07t of lube oil

This ship has proved to be very economical for its size. On average this ship has the following consumption figures:-

• Maximum speed – 13 knots – 11t / 24 hours
• Cruising speed – 11 knots – 9t / 24 hours
• Economic speed – 8 knots – 6t / 24 hours
• Dead slow – 4 knots – 1.8t / 24 hours

Construction

This ship was constructed by Ziegler Ship Yard in 1974 to ABS classification. This ship as a result, has been designed, built and maintained to a very high standard throughout its life.

The ship has a deck strength of 2.6t/m2 with a clear aft deck space of 14.3m x 7m giving a deck capacity of 260.26t.

Accomodation

There is accommodation on board for the crew in 10 cabins for a total of 22. However, as this ship has been used latterly as a rescue standby vessel, there is currently a removable hospital unit onboard. This area gives seating for an additional 58 passengers and 20 survival berths.

Decking Equipment

This ship, being as versatile as it is comes with a wide range of deck equipment. This includes the following:-

• Hiab 650A 1800lbs @ 22ft deck crane
• HBL XDW 1.50-E1 windlass
• 2 x 1500 lbs danforth anchors
• 1080 ft of 38mm chain
• 2 x Grampian davits

There is also a 5ft x 12ft SWL, 125 ST stern roller onboard. This allows for excellent towage and anchor handling when the hospital unit has been removed.
