Accomodation

ACCOMMODATION

Dufour Gib Sea 43 won the Cruising Worlds Boat of the Year award for best production boat under $200,000 for the year 2001. Its not hard to see why when you see the level of finish throughout the boat.

FORWARD CABIN

The traditional forward cabin has “V” berth with infill to make double if required. The mattress has a washable cover. The forward cabin in any Dufour yacht is bright and very cosy due to the combination of the teak flooring and the Buflon trim on the walls. Like most forward cabins the Dufour Gib Sea 43 has a Polyethylene water tank that has a 300 Ltrs capacity and also access to the stowage lockers where the transducers are located. This vessel is also fitted with a hanging locker with a seat, and shelves along both sides. There are two reading lights as well as the cabin light for convenience and privacy.

LATERAL CABIN

The Lateral Cabin has two single berths for maximising the space and allowing for the guests on board enjoying longer passages. Again Dufour have managed to install a hanging locker to hang the sea clothes. Ventilation is via an opening port-light on coaming as well as hatch. There is also two reading lights fitted as well as the cabin light for convenience and privacy. Although the Lateral Cabin is not the largest sleeping accommodation it still has 2000 x 800 berths for even the tallest sailor to get a good nights sleep.

FORWARD SHOWER/WC

Dufour have a very high standard for finish and the Gib Sea 43 has an award winning finish. On any yacht of this size it is very important to have decent toilet facilities. That is why this forward WC has been designed to have a WC, Shower, Washbasin and all in a very tastefully finished self contained compartment. The toilet has a place for a holding tank if required. There is a mirror and stowage cupboard and shelves for general toiletries. The normal shaving light and cabin light provide adequate illumination. Needless to say there is full standing headroom and plenty of room to enjoy a relaxing shower.

SALOON

Anyone who has been on board a Dufour will tell you the Saloon is stunning. It is bright and the all round windows allow the guests to enjoy the ambiance created without feeling claustrophobic. There is a settee to starboard and central with a saloon table. The back of the settee has a stainless steel handrail which is absolutely superb when the boat is on open waters. The saloon also converts to a berth if you require additional accommodation. There is ample storage under the seats as well as access to technical zone. There are two reading lights as well as the four deckhead lights. This allows the boat to be as bright entertaining your guests at night in some secluded cove as it is during the day.

GALLEY

Dufour is synonymous with entertaining family and friends. Any host will tell you that it is the preparation of the food that determines what the guests on board think. To help you on get as high an accolade as the boat, Dufour have given you a head start. There is a double sink and not just the normal single sink. The hot and cold water coming out the brass taps is pressurised. There is a two burner stove with integral oven to heat things up and there is a Fridge with Ice Box to cool things down. Again to keep in with the rest of the boat there is plenty of light and plenty of ventilation to get the onion smells out of the galley as quick as possible. There is copious amounts of storage both in cupboards and in drawers. Any host will enjoy working in this galley and the guests will certainly enjoy the cold Beers and the warm food coming out of it as well.

NAVIGATION STATION

As a caring Skipper you have now made sure your guests are comfortable in the saloon and their gastronomic requirements have been taken care of as well as their sleeping accommodation. Now all that is required of you is to make sure they get where they are going as safely as possible. To do that Dufour have again stepped in to help and provide you with a sizable navigation station and even a seat to work on the charts. There is even a chart table light on a flexible lead to help you. There is access to the circuit breakers and VHF to keep you in touch.

COMPANIONWAY

There is a spacious companionway which also has access to engine under the steps. There is also handrails to assist you in an open sea.

AFT CABINS

This is one of the main features of the Dufour Gib Sea 43 and is probably one of the reasons it won the accolade it did. When you step into the spacious aft cabins you are instantly impressed and fully understand why the Skipper bought this vessel. Each cabin has a full size double berth with washable mattresses. A hanging locker with upper shelf as well as shelves along the sides. There is access behind the engine as well as the tanks with about 230Ltrs of water.

AFT SHOWER/WC

No aft cabin is complete without easy access to a heads compartment. With up to 9 people on board it made sense to have a second heads compartment and no better place than adjacent to the aft cabins. That is why this aft WC has been designed to have a WC, Shower, Washbasin and all in a very tastefully finished self contained compartment. The toilet has a place for a holding tank if required. There is a mirror and stowage cupboard and shelves for general toiletries. The normal shaving light and cabin light provide adequate illumination. Needless to say there is full standing headroom and plenty of room to enjoy a relaxing shower.
