Engines

Any sailor will tell you that it is frustrating when sailing to catch the tides when the wind suddenly drops and you are left becalmed. That is when you turn to your attention to your auxiliary engine. This vessel has been fitted with a NEW Vetus Mitsubishi Diesel Type M4.17. Rated at 42 HP it will give you a comfortable 7 knots and will burn very little in the process. When it was being replaced the owner decided just to replace the shaft and the propeller as well.

There are two tanks for fuel instead of just the one and they are both stainless steel.

Construction

This yacht not only has the comfort of being built in Scandinavia its hull has been designed and built in England to Lloyds and there is a hull certificate to go with the vessel.

She is a long keel and she has 2500 kg of lead in her keel. Long keel boats are relatively stable and when you install this amount of lead you can be sure of a smooth and safe sail.

This is the three cabin version and it means you can have up to eight persons on board and all in very comfortable surroundings.

Accomodation

Vindo is synonymous with long distance cruising and the designers make sure they have everything covered as a result. Take her wooden coach roof for example. Like all the wood on this wood it is of mahogany and it is built to last. With very little maintenance this vessel will look like new year after year.

AFT CABIN – The aft cabin has been designed to sleep two and is relatively spacious inside. The cabin is fitted out to allow the mahogany finish to express itself.

CENTRE COCKPIT – The combination of teak and mahogany blend to give the feeling you are on a wooden boat instead of GRP. All seating, washboards, binnacle and deck boards are in excellent condition and again demonstrate the Scandinavians ability to work with wood to allow it to convey style without losing out in performance. The seating still has storage under and the wood is all in sections for easy maintenance. The mahogany has had no less than 8 coats of varnish.

The design also allows the cockpit to provide cover for the guests not just from the wind and rain but also from the noonday sun, as this boat is lying in the warm idyllic waters of the south of France.

SALOON

At the risk of repeating the obvious the saloon has to be seen to be fully appreciated. All the furniture is manufactured in Mahogany and is crafted by skilled artisans to a standard now only found on boats much larger than this.

Whether it is the full standing headroom or the warm rich red upholstery or simply the way every conceivable space has been utilised by either drawers or shelves, this boat has a very comfortable saloon. Although this vessel is now lying in the warm friendly waters of the south of France, she is fitted with central heating system due to have been manufactured in the colder climes of Scandinavia. There are radiators in every cabin.

GALLEY

If you go to Scandinavia the homes are all stylish yet simple. It is this simplicity that has earned them the reputation they so strongly protect for craftsmanship. The galley has been designed with this ethos in mind and the combination of the mahogany surrounds, shelves and drawers as well as the stainless steel sink with pressurised water both hot and cold (as well as pump driven if required) exude a craftsmanship sadly missing in the mass produced modern vessels. A copious fridge is designed to handle up to -18 Deg C. It is of course a 12V/220V supply. The cooking facility has a gas stove with a safety box outside on deck for the gas cylinder.

The fresh water is kept in the tank in keel.

HEADS

Full standing headroom in the heads compartment and again the clever use of the warm mahogany makes the heads compartment more suited to a much larger yacht or to a hotel. The sink is stainless steel, the water supply is pressurised and the hot and cold water is pumped from the storage tank in the keel. The WC has its own pump. There is also a shower unit fitted which is able to supply the warm water from its own gas heater.

FORWARD CABIN

Being a yacht she has the traditional “V” berth arrangement that can be converted to a double berth if required.
