Engines

When the designers of these Watermasters were looking for a reliable engine that would last as long as the dredger itself, they did not take long before they settled on the Volvo Penta TD61engine. The hydraulics is via triple Hamworthy pumps.

The engine was removed and totally rebuilt approximately 4 years ago (at 9000 hours) and has done approximately 2000 hours since.

The hydraulic pumps were also rebuilt at around the same time.

Construction

When the designers of the Watermaster looked at the dredging world they found a problem that this vessel solves. How do you get the dredger into the water? Simple, you let it walk down into the river itself.

The clever design allows you to be self sufficient and has “Legs” that walk. The rear spud legs have been renewed within the last six weeks. It can walk on mud and float in water. Its hydraulic propulsion system enables it to maintain a speed of 4 - 5 knots on water and with its hull made up of eight sealed compartments, it is virtually unsinkable.

This dredger even has its own crane to load and unload the buckets if required. The crane has a capacity of 750kg. All operations for general use are from with the cab. Being so versatile, the machine can be used for a huge variety of applications in and around water, from landscaping, building and removing islands, berth levelling, pile driving, underwater excavation, underwater rock breaking, revetments, bank stabilisation and profiling, silt pumping, gravel pumping, etc., etc.

Maximum working depth is 3.85 metres with the rear spud legs able to reach 4.5m below water.

The spud legs at the rear were replaced in 2007.
