Engines

This Sunseeker Manhattan 46 is powered by twin 550hp Detroit diesel engines. These engines provide excellent power, an exhaust note to die for and can reach speeds higher than some Ribs and sports boats. The beauty of being able reach 35 knots is the comfort of knowing you will be able to power through any tides and currents, even if you have to drop your speed.

The sheer power alone sells this yacht. When you think of the revs at 35 knots, now drop that back till your doing say 10 – 15 knots and you will think your running on fresh air. The fuel consumption of big engines like this drops significantly when you drop the revs.

When you look at most American cars and trucks, they cruise all day at 70mph but only 1000 rpm. To most European cars…that’s idling!

With this power you also have superb manoeuvrability but that didn’t stop Sunseeker including a bow thruster unit as well. This yacht is fully equipped with almost every extra and has benefited from a very expensive quality refurbishment in 2005.
