Designed and constructed under the auspices of the ever vigilant BUREAU VERITAS, this Tuna Purse Seiner will be constructed with Grade A Naval steel. The steel will have cathodic protection by both welding and screwing zinc anodes to the hull as instructed by the Naval Architect.
Tuna fishing involves long hours, hard work and dangerous conditions for all the crew, from they leave port to they return. So when you design a new vessel you have to make sure the crew are comfortable in the short hours they are not working.
This vessel has been designed with this in mind. Take the Crew Cabins as an example. Each cabin will be lined with varnished wood and insulated with rock wool insulation for both thermal and acoustic insulation. The wooden bunk beds will have mattresses, lights, curtains and various accessories to make the R&R count for every moment.
ALL the toilets will be wood panelled and have WC, basins, showers, hot and cold running water.
With 28 men working hard it is important that the Galley is fully operation to make sure they never go hungry. The galley will be lined in stainless steel with all appliances of superior commercial grade. The food has to be kept fresh and the food refrigeration is the latest state of the art for this purpose. The vessel will be fitted with three cold stores and they will be:
Meat Store – with a volume of 20m3 and a temperature of -18Deg C
Fish Store – with a volume of 20m3 and a temperature of -18 Deg C
General Fridge – with a volume of 40m3 and a controlled temperature of 2 Deg C
The dining room itself will be lined with the same varnished wood and will have a dining table, chairs and suitable accessories.
As the crew will be away for long periods of time full living facilities will be installed to make this vessel self reliant. This will of course include the 2 x washing machines and the 2 x Dryers for the crew to feel fresh when they get the chance.
Wheal house and other crew working rooms and spaces will all be lined with varnished wood as above complete with desks tables' necessary for the operation.
The vessel is equipped with a marine chiller A/C system to cover all the accommodation areas as crew cabins, saloons, dinning room, wheel house, etc.., all accommodation areas shown in the G.A., with an air handling unit in each room controlled separately by a climate control digital unit.
The system will be working through three electromechanically linked compressors R22 type, BITZER brand with a total capacity of 150 KW refrigerating capacity, to cover all accommodation areas of the vessel by only two compressors running while the third is always on a back up position in case of failure of one of the compressors.
SOLAS & Fi Fi
The vessel will be equipped with safety equipment according to SOLAS to include;
•Life rafts according to the men capacity.
•Life buoys according to the men capacity.
•Life jackets according to the men capacity.
•Parachute rockets, smoke signals and line thrower.
Fire fighting equipment ;
