Engines

When the designers of this vessel considered the options they not only considered the delivery times of the various manufacturers but the reliability and access to spares on global basis. That is why they chose one of the most reliable of engines for this vessel, the Cummins KTA50 –M2 range. Each engine produces 1600BHP at just 1800rpm. The power is transmitted through the Reintjes WAF664L German gearbox with its 5:95:1 ratio down the shafts to the propellers.

Gen Sets
To keep spare parts to a minimum the Gen Sets selected were also Cummins. Each of these Gen Sets deliver 220Kw / 400V / 50Hz / 3 phase.

The emergency generator is also Cummins and it delivers 60Kw / 400V / 50 Hz / 3 phase.

The hydraulic steering gear is by Rexroth of Germany. It is left 35 Deg & right 35 deg (2 pumps)

The Bow thruster is rated at 3.6 Tonnes

Being unrestricted navigation the owners of this tug will be using it anywhere in the world and so the accommodation has to be self reliant. The design has been worked in conjunction and in compliance of ILO Convention. That means the life on board will be comfortable and practical.

The Mess room, Galley, Heads and laundry facilities allow as normal a life as possible on long trips. Relaxation is important if the men have to work hard in inclement conditions whilst on duty. This vessel will ensure they will be ready for duty when called upon. The Air Conditioning on board will be fitted to the wheelhouse, mess, hospital, and ALL accommodation spaces

Being self sufficient also means the Hospital on board can handle all types of emergencies should they arise.
