Converted MFV

Wright International Ltd has viewed many converted vessels over the years and each offer a different insight into what is achievable. The difference is not necessarily financial budget but instead the owners imagination and craftsmanship. When you step onboard this boat, you will be amazed at how solid and sea worthy the boat is.

You may be purchasing with the intention of never leaving a mooring, but trust me, within seconds you will be asking if it has the range to cross the Atlantic!! The helm is like being in control of a ship, a sense of being on a “proper boat” and not a toy. The best has yet to come though. It is the large cargo hold that has been converted that will have you asking where you sign!

This boat is ready to live on today with full cooking and laundry facilities onboard. We can arrange a viewing, sea trial, survey and delivery for you as we know for sure if your serious about buying a converted MFV for liveaboard use or blue water cruising that you will not be wasting anyone’s time including your own.

Engines

This 24m Converted MFV is powered by a 450hp Callensen engine that is in immaculate condition. This engine has proved time after time to be very reliable and economical.

The engine room has great access with immense space surrounding the engine. If you require doing any servicing, repairs or rebuilds on this engine you can do so with ease.

This accessibility has meant that the crew onboard have never found basic maintenance to be an issue and helps ensure the engine will start first time, every time.

Construction

This boat when purchased was actually being used as a small cargo vessel for coastal contracts. These contracts were for blue chip organisations including the MOD and Royal Mail. The cargo hold had a capacity of 70 tons and was able to be loaded and discharged with the help of the deck crane installed.

When the current owner converted the hold, he always kept in mind that some day the boat may be required to operate as a cargo vessel once again. As a result the deck crane is still in place and fully operational. As well as keeping the crane in place, he has kept the hold and cargo lid in place as well.

In one weekend, you could easily strip most of the conversion work and have the boat as it was ready for MCA inspection. The boat was previously working under MCA Code of Practice, CAT 2, 60 miles from safe haven.

We can help guide you with the right people to talk to about investigating the costs and work required to have this boat re-coded.

Accomodation

It is the accommodation onboard that will be the main focal point of interest for most of our customers. If you are reading this advert from Australia, I will not loose a second’s sleep worrying that you are going to be disappointed when viewing as this boat will not be a disappointment anyone who is serious about buying a converted MFV.

As you enter the main accommodation area, you first enter the galley. This galley will have you digging out your old favourite recipes and trying your hand at being the next Jamie Oliver. If your cooking skills are as good as mine, don’t worry. You can still phone and have your local takeaway do a delivery to the marina.

As you go down the stairs to the main saloon, the first things you notice are they have stairs, not ladders. Imagine living onboard and at some point you are going to need to carry shopping, clothes, food etc. Now picture doing that up and down ladders, nope its not going to work. That is why you have stairs far more closely resembling those in your own home.

The accommodation area is huge!! My guess is you are looking at 10ft plus headroom. You can hang a chandelier if you are so inclined and still not hit it! The saloon has a leather settee from a home retail store, not a camping store where you have to fit furniture into a tight space. Do you want a wide screen TV or plasma screen? There is room to have both if you want!

The cabin is more like a studio apartment but very tastefully finished. You can easily picture relaxing in the saloon and then crawling into bed right next to it. At this moment in time, there are 4 berths in 2 cabins. The other cabin is at the stern of the boat and gives great privacy onboard.

This boat is so big that if it was a family living onboard I would recommend installing an intercom system other wise your going to have your kids playing hide and seek on you every time you are looking for them.

The shower and toilet is like something you would see in a modern homes magazine, not a converted MFV. The owner wanted to create a home afloat and wanted to have no compromises. If you wake up to a great shower in the house, you should do the same on your new liveaboard.
