Engines

The twin Yamaha 422 STI diesels onboard are arguably the best engines in the world for this rib. The engines are smaller and lighter in size but still turn out 245hp each. This allows you to reach speeds of 38 knots or cruise at a very economical 28 knots instead.

The rib handles very well in all weathers with the engines being rated for power, not speed. In other words if you come against strong tides, currents or waves this isn’t the type of boat that will come to a standing stop every 2 seconds. Instead, this rib is going to plough on through and get you home safe and sound.

Construction

In the ideal world, we would all live in an area where we go cruising in perfect sunshine, flat calm waters and no winds. However, lets be honest….the chances of finding that type of weather at any time in the UK is about the same chances as winning the lottery.

It is with this in mind that the Redbay Stormforce 11m comes into play. This rib will out perform most if not all of its competitors in today’s tough rib market. As an example, this boat was built to exceed Lloyds Special Service Rules has been used successfully for passenger, survey, guard and chase boat works and is only for sale due to the purchase of another boat.

The rib is coded to MCA Cat 3 with no restrictions for 12 passengers and 2 crew and has 3 years to run. This type of vessel is very rare on the second hand market and indeed if you wanted a new one you could be waiting for up to a year.

One of the main reasons the owners bought this rib was its design. The Stormforce 11m offers a deep V hull form, giving you fantastic abilities in rough offshore conditions. The Deep-V hull is combined with sprayrails to produce additional lift and improve the hydrodynamics of the hull.

The tube itself is designed to sit firmly in contact with the water surface while at rest; this ensures that the RIB has maximum stability both at high and low speeds.

One of the major design features however is the Hard Nose. This was developed due to several reasons, and has proven itself one of the most successful features on this design after many years in testing. The Hard Nose is primarily a safety feature. When a RIB such as this is driven hard in a large sea state, there is a real risk that detubing could occur. Thus, the nose is designed to offer complete protection to the tubes when operating in these conditions. Furthermore, there are actually two independent tubes on each side of the hull, offering even greater safety.
