This magnificent vessel was designed and built for Trinity House in the United Kingdom in 1960. This is almost a passport to credibility on its own. Most vessels built in the early sixties were made to last and the steel was so thick it took real craftsmen to work it. Double that with the name Trinity House and you realise that money was no object either. The combination was a magnificent World Cruising Multi Purpose Survey Vessel.
Global warming, Oil & Gas Exploration, Windfarm work and Marine ecology means there is huge demand on Survey vessels of all types and all sizes. This vessel was manufactured in 1960 and was partially rebuilt in 1992 and again in 2001. So for most of its life money has been no object to it.
CLASS – This vessel was last under the Bulgarian Register of shipping (BR) and is ISM Code compliant. It was Class BR100 A5 SURVEY SHIP – (Sept 2004)
TONNAGE
•GROSS TONNAGE – 1427 GRT
•NETT TONNAGE – 455 NRT
This proud ship has travelled the world and has had a world of experiences with its various owners and the projects they worked on with it. Built for Trinity House it was expected to be on call to travel to any port in the world where Scientists would work on the weather, ice melting, fish disappearing and all sorts of environmental contracts. When it worked in the private sector it was used primarily as a Dive Support Vessels as it was large enough to carry its own decompression chambers and it that is why it has such a wide variety of lifting gear on board.
Scientists usually demand a high specification as some of the work takes months if not years to complete. Take a close look at the photographs and you will see that this vessel has been fitted out more like a Cruise Ship than a Survey Vessel and all in the best possible taste.
It has 26 Double Cabins and can therefore carry a maximum of 52 persons on board. The Galley and the storage of provisions have taken cognisance of this and as you can see catering is again on Cruise Ship proportions.
This vessel has a wide variety of equipment on board and would take a comprehensive inventory to list it all. However, whilst that is not possible on any of our listings we can confirm that it was last used on an 18 month Archeological Underwater excavation in the Java Sea.
