ENGINE
Nelson has an excellent reputation throughout the world for taking Officers and Crew ashore from the British Royal Navy Ships. The Nelsons were selected because they could be launched in safety when others were still tied up as the waves were too large for them. Nelsons are twin screw making them very easy to manoeuvre in close quarters and coming. As this is an Ex MOD Launch it has twin Sabre engines, the choice of most MOD launches. These engines are selected for long life and ease of maintenance.
There are two 215BHP engines and one has 1500 hrs and the other 1700 hrs. the power is transmitted through the Borg Warner Gearbox with its 2:1 reduction down the shaft to the twin propellers. It allows these launches to cruise around 14 knots and top out at around the 20 knots.
The engines and the gearboxes as you can see from the photographs are in very good condition. Again as an introduction to sailing this allows most car drivers to work on these engines to check the oil, clean the filters and generally look after them as they do their cars. It is not beyond most DIY to fully maintain them but if you are looking to get them serviced they are so simple an engine every port will have someone to look after them for you.
DIESEL
With 200 Litres of Diesel on board you will not be spending time at the pumps very often. These engines will burn very little at Cruising Speeds.

Built in 1980 for the MOD and maintained by them making sure this Launch had no cash worries throughout its life. It is an ideal introduction to ailing but it is also selected by more seasoned veterans as it is so safe and so sea worthy. Imagine you make arrangements on a Monday to take out some friends next Saturday. There are Marinas full of bots that they have to add “weather permitting”. This Nelson 34 Fast Motor Launch will go out when your “Crew” will head for the nearest pup instead.
Safe ………….Fast……………Reliable…………..Comfortable……………N E L S O N.
It can be used as a four berth for overnights or just four berth to cruise around as a day boat. The deck has anti slip mats making it safe to walk round the gunwales even when wet. It has a centre cockpit again making it a safe family boat and it has an enclosed rear cabin if the children wish to amuse themselves until you get to your next destination.
It is also shallow draft allowing you take into coves and beaches and anchor up. It is just so versatile a boat the potential is endless and all for under £20k delivered anywhere in the United Kingdom.
