Engines

This fishing trawler is powered by a single Gardner 8L3B diesel engine that produces 230hp @ 1150 rpm. The Gardner engine is arguably the most reliable and economical diesel engine in the world. There is also a Lister 8.5hp engine and a 5kw diesel generator onboard as part of the mechanical inventory.

For electrical power, you have a Victron battery charger, Victron 3kw inverter and 3x 200 amp Transmotor alternators

Construction

This boat was built in 1960 by Herd and Mackenzie, Peterhead as a Seiner. She was a top Scottish boat and was sold to Newlyn in 1992 and she then longlined and gillnetted from SW England. The owner then bought her and fished commercially for Albacore Tuna in the NE Atlantic. She is still licenced and rigged for this fishery and is ready to go.

The boat was rebuilt in 1995 and has been continually upgraded since, the electronics are up-to-date and very comprehensive. Over 60,000GBP has been spent upgrading in the last year with over 30,000GBP spent at Alexander Noble and sons in Girvan on re-caulking and re-fastening hull and deck and a new engine driven bilge pumping system. Additionally this year a new diesel 5kw generator, victron battery charger 80amp, new Trojan deep cycle domestic battery bank of 450 amp and a new DSC bank. New morse control cables fitted for throttle and gear. The Gardner engine had a top end overhaul and new liners this year. The engine was re-built in 2002 and is in excellent condition.

From forward, the bow is fitted to carry around 200 fish boxes. The fish room was new in 2002, is fully insulated and lined in GRP and is cooled by top of the range Viking refrigeration. Zero degrees C can be held in the fish room over a 12 day trip. Carries 350 boxes. Aft is engine room and accommodation for 6.

The boat is UKFVC to 2011 and has a UK fishing licence and Load Line Excemption Certificate.
