Engines

This Pilot Vessel is powered by twin Caterpillar engines and the 3208TA engines are rated at 340BHP (253kW) each. The V8 with its 8 cylinders of 114mm bore x 127mm stroke provides the power on demand that Pilot Boats require. This will allow speeds up to 20 Knots even when fully loaded. The engines were fully rebuilt in 2004 and have just over 1000 hours running since rebuild.

Construction

This vessel designed and built by Tyler Boat Co Ltd in 1993 was designed to operate in open waters in safety and as time has proved as a reliable Pilot Boat when required. Designed to carry a compliment of six plus fuel at speeds of up to 20 Knots. The speed to wave height is controlled by the Lloyds Register speed/sea state curve.

Manufactured in 1993 it has been maintained with care ever since. In 2004 it had a £151,000 rebuild including a £31,000 engine overhaul. In 2007 the radar was replaced at a cost of just over £5,000. As we said this vessel, still in Class is a credit to the Port Authority and we would strongly recommend viewing to gain the full benefits of purchasing this vessel.
