Engines

There is one engine that is ubiquitous amongst the Fishing Fleet and the reason for that is it is simple to work on, fuel efficient and easy to get spares when required. That engine, well it has to be the Kelvin Diesel engine. This vessel is fitted with an 8 cylinder Kelvin Diesel TASC8 engine rated at 440BHP (328 Kw). It gets its power from its 8 in line cylinders with their 165mm Bore x 184mm Stroke and operates at just 1200rpm.

The power is then transmitted down through the reduction gearbox to the single propeller.
