Engines

MAIN ENGINE
This tug is powered by one of the most ubiquitous engines for a vessel of this size: The Caterpillar type 3406 DC – TA. Rated at 343 BHP (252kW) at just 1800rpm the 6 cylinder in line engine with its 137mm Bore x 165mm Stroke cylinders delivering the power when required and still burn less than 70 Ltrs / Hr. This engine was built in 1988 and had the cylinder head fully overhauled in 2008. The power is transmitted to the shaft through the Twin Disc 3.5:1 reduction gearbox type MG514.

The power is transmitted down the shaft to the single 4 blade 1000mm Dia Propeller in a Kort Nozzle. The Kort nozzle was built in 2002.
