Engines

MAIN ENGINES
One word is constant in ALL of our listings and that word is QUALITY. This Manufacturer has deigned a vessel that is perfect for Europe and AFRICA. It has been designed to be used in any port and serviced with consummate ease. Take the machinery on this vessel. There can few engines that can be serviced as easy as Caterpillar and that is why this vessel has two 490 BHP engines driving ZF reduction gearboxes. The result is a vessel that cruise all day at low speed or deliver its very valued guests at speeds up to 30 Knots.

MACHINERY SPACE VENTILATION
220V AC axial type fans shall be installed with suitable airflow and necessary fire dampers. Centralized start/stop buttons in the wheelhouse and emergency stop buttons outside the machinery space shall be fitted.

BILGE SYSTEM
Electric driven (24V) self-priming bilge pump shall be provided according standard requirement.

MACHINERY & INSTRUMENTATION
•M.E. instrumentation will be provided with the following:
•Engine oil pressure gauge
•Gear oil pressure gauge
•Gear oil temperature gauge
•Water temperature gauge
•Tachometer
•Engine start/stop
•M.E. Control
All controls shall be provided/located in wheelhouse. Control shall be of electric type for engines throttle and gearbox at the helm and Aft control station (as recommended by engine and gearbox manufacturer).

HYDRAULIC STEERING
A charlyn orbital valve shall be connected to the hydraulic cylinder via a tie rod to synchronize the 2 semi-balance rudders. Hydraulic pump shall be driven by electric 380V. Emergency manual locking bar shall be provided in the tiller room to lock the rudders in the central position, should the steering system have failed. Emergency steering can be operated manually should the pump failed. Stainless steel steering wheel is fitted. A rudder angle indicator shall fit in the wheelhouse at the helm and Aft control station.

EXHAUST & SILENCERS
Wet exhaust shall be provided for the main and auxiliary engines. Exhaust pipes shall be insulated with asbestos-free heat insulating material and to be installed through transom area, as designated.

One (1) off 30KW x 220V/380V Caterpillar C4.4 marine generating set heat exchanger cooled and electric starting. The generator shall be sized to 100% of ship’s electrical load requirement.
Machinery Space Fixed Fire Extinguishing
The CO2 bottles stowed outside the machinery space, as per class.

24 Volt System
The 24V system shall be provided for services shown below. The batteries shall be installed in line, well-vented in a compartment.

SEA TRIALS
The Proposed vessel shall undergo Builders and Owners acceptance trials with attendance of surveyor from Classification Society.
Endurance and speed trials shall be conducted over a measured mile course. Average of two (2) runs in each direction shall determine the speed of the vessel.

Trials shall include docking, manoeuvrability, single running engine running, running astern, turning circles at full power and idle, crash stop, anchor test. Recording are to be documented in the Sea Trials Booklet.
