Engines

MAIN ENGINE
The Manufacturers of these outstanding Ambulances also have a wide range of Defence Vessels with proven track records. Whether it is a Defence Vessel or a Military Ambulance the result is the same with endless waterways to cover. Fast action and reaction to an encounter, a real threat or a friendly visit. In these situations the whole defence system must be on the alert within seconds while, deep in the hull, the engines must be able to rev up from zero to full power in no time. This is the Scania engine’s home turf. Few users in the defence industry are interested in engines whose only benefit is high power. What is important is the combination of high power output, low fuel consumption, low exhaust emissions and high reliability.

That is why these MILITARY AMBULANCES have been designed to use the Scania 112 69M engines each rated at 700 BHP. This will allow the AMBULANCE to operate at speeds approaching 60 knots and a Cruising Speed of around 45 Knots. The Military have long respected the Scania Marine Engines not only for their fast response but also their longevity in use. These DI 12 69 engines with their 6 cylinders and 5.00 Ins Bore x 6.06 Ins Stroke operate at around 2300rpm.

Naturally, the Scania engines comply with IMO, EU Stage IIIA, US Tier 2 and CCNR Stage II emission regulations.

Dual oil filtration system
Scania’s unique oil filtration system is yet another important reason for the engine’s renowned dependability. The combination of a full-flow paper filter, which deals with the larger particles, and a centrifugal filter which removes the smaller particles, provides maximum oil filtration, minimum wear and fewer filters used. Which all adds up to lower operational costs!

Efficient cooling
The entire engine, including the charge-cooler, is cooled by fresh water for maximum reliability and service life. In addition, the water for the charge-cooler has an extra cooling circuit to provide the coolest possible intake air.

This improves performance and fuel consumption and reduces engine wear.

Electrical system
The best – and perhaps the only – way of obtaining maximum performance and best possible total economy from your Scania marine engine is to maintain constant control over important engine parameters.

An instrument panel from Scania, specially designed for our EMS engines, ensures maximum interaction with the “intelligence” built into the EMS technology.

The result is better control functions, simple and clear monitoring, quick trouble shooting and programming facilities that are adapted to each engine’s operating conditions.

EU Stage IIIA marine
The regulation for propulsion engines used in inland waterway vessels.
the regulation is valid in Europe.

CCNR stage II
Central Commission for Navigating on the Rhine regulate engines for inland waterways vessels for power output between 130 and 560 kW.
The regulation is valid for the River Rhine.

EPA TIER2
Regulation for marine engines used in inland waterways and sea-going vessels. The regulation is valid in the United States.

The IMO MARPOL Annex VI
The International Maritime Organization (IMO) is the specialised agency of the United Nations with responsibility for safety and security at sea and the prevention of marine pollution from ships. This regulation is applicable for engines with rated power of more than 130 kW in most of the flag states world wide.

Construction

Wright International Ltd has earned the Wright to say it only works with quality yards. This has been achieved not by the yards we do work with but by the huge number of yards we do NOT work with. There can be few yards that can produce QUALITY vessels like this that are designed for:-

•MILITARY
•POLICE
•COAST GUARD
•HARBOUR MASTERS
•PILOTS
•SAR
•PATROLLING
•F A S T ASSAULT
•AMBULANCE, Etc.

Designed by Gianpero Lazzarone, this Deep V – planning hull with its combination of drive allows it to operate safely at speed in almost any weather. The extra strength in the hull comes from its method of construction. The advanced composite hull is partially vacuum applied with a monolithic GRP structure. Manufactured to Navy rules, these vessels are finished in an Isophtalic gelcoat which is painted RAL 7000 – Navy Grey. There is a 12mm D shape Fendering system all round the vessel.

Although this vessel is designed for Military use it also has a Stainless Steel handrail around the boat for personnel to have greater safety at Sea.

Accomodation

This vessel was built with one thing in mind and that was ……………..S P E E D. However as everyone knows speed on its own is not enough. These are service vessels that are also designed to provide a very valued service where speed plays an integral part. It also has an electric WC, a Galley and a sink.

The wheelhouse is also manufactured from Composite and that keeps the weight to a minimum. The windows have been strengthened by tempered and laminated glass to handle the rough treatment they will face in its service. Even the wipers are of the heavy duty pantograph type. The helm position is as you would expect an adjustable Pilot Seat.

There is a full liveaboard for four including a Galley, Toilet / Shower and four berth.
